Software Engineer in Gameplay, Engine, Core-Tech, and Tooling + Rotational Dev-Ops. Various Projects at Microsoft's Activision, Blizzard, King (ABK)
Experience with additive and subtractive manufacturing, CAD, rapid prototyping, and microcontrollers. Being creative is the best pastime.
Personal workshop includes: FDM & SLA printing, 3-axis CNC (flat-bed), wood lathe, soldering station, resin work station, and other tools.
CAD and Sim - This Paramotor Hitch Carier improves loading and unloading time from ~5 minutes to ~1 minute, while also freeing the truck bed for other loads.
Designed in Fusion360, simulated in Ansys Discovery.
Software Engineering (AAA) - Gameplay, Engine, Core-Tech, Tooling. Tech owner and subject matter expert of several core systems.
Sole Developer (Indie) - The Oculus installment of the classic Holopoint title released September 10th 2020.
Design and Fabrication - This intricate proposal box has hidden drawers that open when key external events occur. The first drawer opens automatically when a custom video game is completed. In the game, the player must find several key items hidden in recreations of past dates. Putting all the items together opens a digital version of the box in-sync with the real one. This is done using cloud-base event relaying. The next serveral drawers open at pre-selected calendar dates and times and reveal date activities (such as tickets), or other items. The time of opening can be updated via a cloud portal if plans change. A final drawer opens on demand via a phone app when desired. Lastly, a secret key re-opens any previously unlocked drawer.
Designed in Fusion 360. Uses a Particle Photon microcontroller. Small fittings made with an SLA printer.
Software Engineer - The Vision Tracking System for Surgical Tray Equipment (VTSTE) was designed for use in the sterile processing department (SPD) of Lakeland Regional Health. The purpose of this system is to reduce lost and / or forgotten items used in a surgical operation.
Provided feedback on usability of prototype Valve hardware. Valve wrote custom drivers that supported Holopoint to be able to collect early feedback on their 'Knuckles' controllers. More refined versions of these controllers later went out to developers and the hardware was eventally introduced into the consumer market with the Vive Index.
With the success of Holopoint in 2016-2017 and new updates coming to the installment, we set out to film a mixed-reality trailer for the game. While the trailer was cut from plans shortly after filming, it helped introduce a mixed reality system into the game itself that allowed end-users to make their own mixed reality media.
Environment Artist (Indie) - Much of this scene was developed using Quixel Megascans and other photogrammetry assets to achieve a high level of realism.
Sole Developer (Indie) - Holopoint: Chronicle is the second installment in the Holopoint series. The game makes use of AWS RDS and Elastic Beanstalk to manage save data and automatically generate challenges. While the game was not as successful as the original, It is quite the accomplishment for a solo developer.
Artist and Rigger - Bow and arrow model for Holopoint: Chronical and Holopoint Oculus Edition. This bow comes in two varients: physically-based for Holopoint: Chronical, and unlit with baked lighting for Holopoint: Oculus Edition.
Artist and Rigger - Rapid prototype character for Magic Tree House prototype project.
Sole Developer (Indie) - Holopoint held a steady placement on the first page of Steam's VR category for a year and was still among the most popular VR titles on Steam two years later.
The environment seen here was crafted in Blender and textured largely using Substance.
Sole Devleoper (indie) - Piñata Attack is a local multiplayer virtual reality party game designed and developed in about one week. The title won best in show at the 2019 Florida Polytechnic University Game Expo.
Early access to the Vive was a blessing. Two game concepts were developed in the few months before the Vive was released. Holopoint launched alongside the Vive. There was not much sleep, but it paid off.
Artist and Rigger - This character was modeled, rigged and animated in Blender. It makes use of a custom IK rig (shown in the image here) to animate the underlaying game-ready skeleton. When animating, most of the rig is hidden and clean controls are rendered instead.
This scene was to be covered in dead bamboo trees, cut and scattered across the burnt ground. To save time, a physics simulation was used to scatter bamboo over the scene, before baking the meshes into place for added performance.
Holopoint held a steady placement on the first page of Steam's VR category for a year and was still among the most popular VR titles on Steam two years later.
